Cotswold Water Park Master Plan

The CWP Joint Committee commissioned consultants Scott Wilson to complete a strategic review and implementation plan (a Master Plan) with the aim to produce a vision for the future of the area.

The study, which was completed in July 2008, was undertaken in three stages. The purpose of the study was to reflect the views of various sectors active within the Park, such as land owners, minerals operators, holiday parks and conservationists, and also the hopes and concerns of the 20,000 people who live within the Park’s 40 square miles.

Cotswold Water Park Biodiversity Action Plan

A Local Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) translates national nature conservation goals into real objectives for specific habitats and species. It describes the biological resources of an area and commits a detailed plan for the protection and enhancement of these resources or put simply making the Cotswold Water Park better for wildlife.

This is implemented through a partnership between conservation bodies, gravel companies, lake owners, Local Authorities and local residents coordinated by the Cotswold Water Park Trust.

The CWP BAP was the first strategic plan to cover the whole of the Water Park both sides of the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire boundary. It translates the international agreements signed at the Earth Summit at Rio de Janeiro in 1992 into local on-the-ground action.
